Hi, I'm Emily!

I'm a Birth Doula and soon-to-be perinatal yoga instructor. I trained with Linda Herrick of The Academy of Certified Birth Educators in Summer 2022 for both Birth Support and use of TENS units in labor and delivery.

I was born and raised in Massachusetts and spent my twenties bouncing from England, to France, to New York, and landed here in Atlanta in 2021. My path to this work has been as nonlinear as it gets, but every detour has equipped me with a new tool for my kit.

The seed of my desire to become a birth doula was planted during my earliest experiences of debilitating pain and confusion as a result of my endometriosis and adenomyosis—although I didn't know it back then. When conventional solutions like hormonal birth control did nothing to stop my pain and caused additional side effects, I began to immerse myself in the world of holistic healing.

The process was gradual. I spent most of my twenties working in various fields of design (graphics, furniture, interiors, you name it), but as soon as I could save up the money and free time, I would jet off to places like India to study yoga, to Costa Rica to study herbalism, or to more local destinations here in Georgia to study Vipassana meditation and birth doula work. I realized that everything I was doing on my own time to tend to my physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health was what I wanted to be doing all the time to help other women feel at home and empowered within their own bodies, particularly during the sacred phases of pregnancy and childbirth.

In my free time, I love to work with my hands—whether I'm making homemade pasta on a Sunday night with my boyfriend or creating fresh prints in a darkroom. I love traveling and learning new things (could you tell?), going for walks with my little spaniel Lady, and I aspire to "adopt" all the orphaned elephants and rhinos at the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust one day. I'm as granola as it gets when it comes to composting, and I see it as a duty to leave this planet better than I found it whatever way I can.
